as my wife's health deterioration, Arnold's designed new methods constantly for keeping us on the rides. as she got weaker i made a tow bar for the Miami Sun senior trike i bought for her and i tow her everywhere. she pedals but only has strength for 4 mph. i pull us faster, around 8 mph to 10 mph. however, she is getting exercise by turning the crank. however as her dementia got worse, she not only stopped peddling at times which is ok. sure like all the help i can get going up hill of course, she began to turn crank backward at times when we are moving setting the brake and saying she didn't. i then took the tow bar off and put in on a single speed senior trike and can pull her without suddenly slowing down now.
because of arthritis in my hip and knee i bought a Sun E-1, with an X frame that i can get my leg over, but got back pain from the shape of the molded seat back not matching my arthritis back. from Arnold's. Gary Arnold came to my rescue again and replaced the molded seat with a seat off a Sun EZ-3 and now i ride it for my longer rides without steeper hills. will be 76 next year and still have the arthritis so may put a hub motor on it for the hills. there again Arnold's will help me.

We wanted to give a nod of sincere appreciation to Gary for opening his shop on Sunday 9/11/11 to make a repair to my tadpole Rover which had left me stranded on the GIT.
We plan to ride that stretch of trail (Albany Il - Savanna Il) often, and I plan to patronize Arnolds shop for all our future bike needs. He came through for us and we will not forget that.
Thanks again Gary!

Hi,
I build motorized bikes in Phoenix, AZ and have a customer that just bought two new Sun EZ3 USX HD's to hitch together, with the front being motorized.

I have some designs but want to see what you sell the parts for.
The dual pivot hitch I already know about, but the 4-stroke motor mount (which I want to use a 4-stroke on this opposed to my normal 2-stoke builds) looks pretty ungamely to me.

Lets talk.

We have health issues with wife losing strength and getting more bent over due to back problems. our doctor, dentist, chiropractor, physical theripist, and neurologist constantly remind us to keep biking, (we cannot walk very far and shopping centers make us to constantly look for a bench to sit on and rest).

We purchased a ez-3 usx in 2007 and the first year my wife was afraid to get on it because of the uss. the next year she took it over and i had to get another trike for myself. one day she rode a standard upright, had some mini strokes, drove into a ditch, breaking her ankle, and we both got poisin ivy as I had to roll her up the bank through it. after it healed we tried two recumbents side by side but that did not work for us as with one side powering and the other not, it tended to put more road friction on the tires with a side thrust type problem.

After getting advice from arnold's bike shop, Gary Arnold made a hitch on the rear of my ez-3 usx so i could pull another recumbent trike with the front wheel off of it reducing some drag.

This worked out great until we encountered some hills i could not pull our entire 600 pounds of total weight up so back to Arnold's.

The front cassett lower chain ring gear, was replaced with a smaller one giving us double the power for going up the steeper hills. in fact for pulling across a yard i had a mud and snow tire put on the drive wheel for traction. when we have the garden trailer hooked on behind her trike with weight in it i have, by pushing the crank to hard and to fast spun the tire on the drive way pavement. as time went on wife's arthritis has stiffened her up to the point she can't get up off her recumbent so back to Arnold's where we purchased a miami sun senior trike with wide seat and 3 speed transmission (shifts so sweet) and coaster brake for rear and rim brake on the front wheel. now she can mount and dismount without bending much.

THANKS to Arnolds, we continue to ride our trikes and have friends that ride with us on our extra trikes. we made a trailer and can haul several at the same time.

Great ride! There is a long stretch of trail with little protection from the sun - plan accordingly.

Highly recommend this trail to any cycling enthusiast, especially those who ride recumbents!
